Four Things to do for Your Business in 2020

In today’s blog post, I’m sharing four things to do for your business in 2020. If you’re an entrepreneur, chances are you sometimes feel overwhelmed with all of the costs that go into running a business and promoting your personal brand. It can be really challenging to distinguish a smart investment that’ll lead to more money down the road from an investment that’s just a waste of your already limited funds. But certain investments can make all the difference!

I’ve narrowed it down to just four core investments every entrepreneur can (and should!) make in their personal brand.

Push Your Business Forward with these Four Things

I personally focused on these four strategies at the start of 2019 and my business took a major step forward in the second half of the year. After reflecting on the previous year and deciding on how I wanted to pivot my business to focus solely on portraits, I laid out a plan for each quarter of 2019. Then, I kicked things off with designing a new website, then quickly realized I needed new headshots and branded photos to make my new website pop with my personality.

In between website design and writing copy, I hired a makeup artist, consulted with a stylist and booked a session with a friend. The photos came out amazing and fit my new site perfectly. After launching the new site with a sleek logo update and branded photos, I started working on my content strategy. And after a few weeks, the hard work paid off and now I’m sharing the four things I focused on to hit my business goals at the start of the year with you.

Take a second to read through the four things to do for your business in 2020:

1. Website

In today’s world, your website is essentially your storefront. It’s what sets the tone for your entire personal brand. It’s usually the first exposure potential clients EVER get of who you are and what you can offer them. And with tools like WordPress, Wix and Squarespace, you can get a gorgeous, professional-looking website for an affordable price, even if you’re not especially tech-savvy.

2. Logo

Your logo is the soul of your brand. It should be beautiful, memorable, and thoughtful. Again, getting a unique, professional-level logo doesn’t have to break the bank — hiring a freelancer can be a very economical way to go. But definitely look for an expert. After all, your logo will be all over your email newsletters, your social media, your website, your business cards, your merch, and beyond.

3. Personal Brand Photos

Your personal brand photos are what bring your brand to life. They make your entire personal brand more human and relatable. They allow your potential clients to “meet” the absolute best version of yourself. A great personal brand photographer will help you come across as likable, trustworthy, and professional after just a glance. (It’s also a great way to build up content for social media platforms and blog posts!) Most photographers offer various packages to fit any budget.

4. Content Marketing

You can convert website visitors and social media followers into paying customers with a content marketing strategy. Traditional forms of marketing focuses mainly on paid advertisement. However, studies consistently show that content marketing gives you 3x the return you see on dollars spent on paid advertising. Content marketing is how you get the word out about your business, acquire new clients and keep them coming back! So this one is a no brainer in 2020 whether you outsource it or set aside the time to do it on your own, focus on creating blog posts, social media posts, and video content that gives amazing value to your target audience.

These four investments are crucial to help you solidify your personal brand and achieve success in your business. Investing in a great website, a unique logo, professional personal brand photography and content marketing will always be worth it.
