As a Philadelphia family photographer I love to canvas my local areas for unique portrait shooting locations. So one of the things I love to do is getting to know my photo clients, through casual conversation, in-person consultations or welcome questionnaires. It’s my goal is to understand what they love to do as a family or what inspirations mom may have for her dream family portrait session. I use that information to decide on the session style that best suits my portrait clients. A few of my most suggested settings are Open Fields, Lush Estates, Green Forrests, Urban Landscapes and my Client’s Home!
Once we decide on the perfect type of setting, I offer a few tips and suggestions for clients to choose from for the day of shooting. Whether we decide to shoot on location or in my client’s home, I design a session flow to capture all the details to tell their story visually . It’s a major plus that I’m able to take some of the stress from session planning off my clients, in terms of finding the perfect location for the portraits they envision.
One of my favorite locations to suggest is the Appleford Estate in Villanova, PA. The beautiful backdrop are endless with beautiful garden spaces and running streams. I’m able to capture the fleeting moments of laughter and fun through out the shoot, as well as romantic couple’s portraits towards the end of our time together. When you first enter the location, there is a beautiful stone and tree lined driveway that leads you to the grounds of the estate. Once you walk unto the property, you notice the lush green landscape and beautiful house with stone details. There are several manicured gardens and rustic trails, open for exploration and perfect photo opportunities.
